Sports: Play off drama

Wow this is all just crazy.

Last night the Tigers lost early to the Blue Jays opening up the door for the Twins, if they won, to gain a share of the AL Central top stop. The Twins were down 1-0 with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th only to have Joe Mauer hit a game tieing homerun. Then in the bottom of the 10th they won it with an RBI ground rule double from Jason Barlett. The ball would have been caught any other time, but all out fielders were playing in because of the situation. With the Twins winning and the Tigers losing, they now share the AL Central lead.

The NL is were the real story is at. I still can't get over the Cardinals choke and the Astros resurgence. Out side of the Mets enormous lead, I thought the Cards had the next safest lead. No way in Hell a team can blow an 8.5 game lead with just 2 weeks left to play. But I guess I was wrong. With the Cards losing to the Brewers last night and the Astros beating the Pirates there is only a .5 game separating the two. With only a hand full of games left I really have the feeling the Astros are going to pull this amazing come back off. I for one would not want to face a rotation of Clemens, Oswalt, and Petitte in the post season. They will be a force to reckon with.

As for the NL west, both the Dodgers and Padres won so nothing has changed there. Either way I think both teams are making the play offs. The Phillies lost last night so there chances of winning the wild card are slimmer and slimmer. The Phillies would have to win the rest of there games just to stand a chance of making the post season. With only a few games left a 2 game deficit is a lot harder to make up.
