Sports: Redsox acquire Hee-Seop Choi?

I didn't even know he was available but apparently the Redsox claimed Hee-Seop Choi off the waiver wire. Why no other team signed him up is beyond me. Sure he isn't the greatest player but it gives the Redsox a lot more depth at first and third.
The Red Sox claimed first baseman Hee-Seop Choi off waivers from the Dodgers today, the team announced.

Choi, who represented South Korea in last month's World Baseball Classic, has spent time with the Cubs (2002-03), Marlins (2004) and Dodgers (2004-05). He is a career .240 hitter with 40 home runs, 120 RBIs and a .349 on-base percentage in 363 major league games. He hit 15 home runs for the Dodgers last year, batting .253 with 15 doubles and 42 RBI in 133 games.

The 27-year-old Choi committed only two errors in 762 chances at first base in 2005 with the Dodgers, which tied him for the second-best fielding percentage (.997) in the National League. The left-handed batter and thrower has a career fielding percentage of .992
I don't know if Theo isn't sold with Mike Lowell at third. He started the spring off shaky with his bat but has been hitting well as of late. I still want to see Lowell start the season off and third and I definitely think Youk has earned a chance to start the season at 1st. I don't want to see Choi steal that from him.
