Sports: Schilling the closer

I guess anything is better than Foulke.

Ace starter Curt Schilling is going into Boston's bullpen, and closer Keith Foulke is headed for the disabled list.

In a move that will accelerate Schilling's return to the major leagues, and provide needed help in their bullpen, the Red Sox plan to use the 38-year-old right-hander as a reliever instead of a starter as he continues to work back from an ankle injury.

Manager Terry Francona said Schilling isn't ready to give the Red Sox the innings they need from a starter, but can help for a couple of innings at a time.

"It's kind of a work in progress, trying to repeat your delivery 100 times, and being at his level is not easy," Francona said. "I think he can impact our club and repeat his delivery for an inning or two. ... We're trying to figure out a way to make that have an impact on our ballclub.

I think Schilling would do well as a closer, but not for the ammount that we pay him. I hope this is only temporary, I want to see Schilling pitch 7 innings every 5 days and win the ball games.
